Skypersonic is thrilled to announce that our organization is collaborating with ASME and SWG in their quest to create robust standards for safe and reliable inspections using Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). The use of UAVs and UAS in inspections of hazardous areas, confined spaces and difficult indoor scenarios is on the rise for obvious reasons and as a manufacturer of UAVs, and with multiple UAVs on the market, Skypersonic will provide committee with the best knowledge of the equipment and methods for use in order to operate these units in a safe and standardized manner.
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is one of the oldest standards-developing organizations in America. It produces approximately 600 codes and standards covering many technical areas. Many ASME standards are cited by government agencies as tools to meet their regulatory objectives. The largest ASME standard, both in size and in the number of volunteers involved in its preparation, is the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC). The BPVC provides rules for the design, fabrication, installation, inspection, care, and use of boilers, pressure vessels and nuclear components. The code also includes standards on materials, welding and brazing procedures and qualifications, nondestructive examination, and nuclear in-service inspection. It is a true privilege for Skypersonic to contribute the best practices for further developing these standards or UAV/UAS usage.
Skypersonic is currently participating and actively involving all personnel including Engineers, Pilots and Business Managers to provide the best information to the committee for a precise and informed set of standards
“Contributing to the ASME standards from the perspective of a pilot and helping in the definition of the best practices that will be used on the field is an important achievement for me” said Giuliano Golfieri, Chief Test Pilot and Operations Manager at Skypersonic Italia S.R.L.
“Being in the ASME and SWG committee, I see my vision of safe and reliable inspections being fulfilled. I am really thrilled to be a part of it” added Giuseppe Santangelo, CEO & President of Skypersonic.
